A Los Angeles-based foundation has given Great Ape Trust of Iowa $25,000 to study vocalization in bonobos and the counting skills of orangutans.
The David Bohnett Foundation grant money will pay for high-speed computer equipment, software and development of a vending machine that will be used in counting studies and a special portable computer for Allie, an adolescent orangutan.
