Bohnett Foundation Teams Up With KCRW
August 17, 2000 — KCRW, National Public Radio's Southern California flagship station, is pleased to announce a $50,000 gift from the David Bohnett Foundation to support capital improvements to the station's studios.
The Foundation will use on-air acknowledgement of this gift to promote the Foundation's mandate to improve society through social activism. "It's tremendously appropriate that this Internet pioneer would support this pioneering radio station," said KCRW General Manager Ruth Seymour.
"We are honored to be able to make this substantial gift to KCRW … the very sound of substance here in Southern California," said Bohnett. "We trust that KCRW's listeners will take to heart our message of civil rights, human rights and inclusion and join us in contributing to these fine organizations."
The Bohnett Foundation makes grants supporting programs in areas including the promotion of the positive portrayal of lesbians and gay men in the media, community based social services that benefit gays and lesbians, the reduction and elimination of the manufacture and sale of handguns in the US, the development of mass transit and non-fossil fuel transportation, animal language research, animal companions and eliminating rare animal trade and voter registration activities.
