Wingspan Celebrates Grand Re-opening of David Bohnett CyberCenter and Several Recent Honors

TUCSON – Southern Arizona's LGBT and Allied community will gather at Wingspan on Wednesday, October 13th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm to celebrate the grand re-opening of the David Bohnett CyberCenter, as well as several recent honors. Wingspan is Southern Arizona's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Community Center.

The Open House will be an opportunity for community members to view the new state-of-the-art equipment and software at the David Bohnett CyberCenter at Wingspan. The David Bohnett Foundation invested more than $350,000 to refurbish the 19 existing David Bohnett CyberCenters across the country, including Wingspan's.

As a result, Wingspan received the most current computer technology including 6 new computers, 6 flat screen monitors, a laser printer, and a scanner–over $16,000 in new equipment. The David Bohnett CyberCenter provides internet and computer use for people who otherwise wouldn't have access.

The Open House is also an opportunity to celebrate two recent honors for Wingspan.

On Thursday September 23rd, Wingspan was voted “Best Local Advocacy/Activist Group” by readers of the Tucson Weekly. Then, on Wednesday September 29th, the Wingspan Board of Directors received the prestigious 2004 “Silver Award” from the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona. The Silver Award goes to a non-profit board of directors that is diverse, provides strategic and visionary leadership, and is a good model for other nonprofit boards.

The October 13th celebration is free and open to the public.

We hope you can join us for this special night. RSVP not required.
