David Bohnett Leadership Fellows Sweep Elections, Increase LGBT Presence in Local Government

LOS ANGELES—The David Bohnett Foundation celebrated success across the country Tuesday night as all nine of its active Victory Institute Bohnett Leadership Fellows won election to public offices.

“These women and men are some of America's top LGBT talents, proving that openly gay candidates run competitive races with strong organizations and dynamic messaging under many different electoral maps,” said philanthropist David Bohnett. “It’s an honor to support these inspiring individuals who have made a difference in our communities, our political system and our world.”

The Victory Institute’s David Bohnett Leadership Fellows program is the only mid-career training curriculum for LGBT leaders in the nation. Fellows are exclusively selected to participate in the intensive, three-week summer session as part of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program. The program offers a balance of traditional and hands-on learning experiences to help public officials meet the changing needs of their constituents and communities.
