Jenny Kim (she/her) is a current Master of Public Policy candidate at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs, focusing on immigration policy and economic development. Her goal is to deepen her expertise in policy analysis, particularly in the areas of immigration, climate justice, and their interconnected global implications.
An experienced community organizer and project coordinator, Jenny is passionate about human rights and committed to empowering underserved communities. Originally from South Korea, Jenny graduated from UC Irvine in 2020 with a BA in Criminology, Law, and Society and a minor in International Studies. Before pursuing her graduate degree, she worked as an Immigrant Justice Community Organizer at the National Korean American Services and Education Consortium (NAKASEC), organizing and advocating for undocumented Asian Pacific Islander (API) immigrants. While at NAKASEC, she participated in various Immigrant Justice Campaigns and helped develop virtual programs and resources for the immigrant community.
Currently, Jenny serves as a Volunteer Project Coordinator at the UCLA Dream Resource Center (DRC), uplifting the voices of undocumented students and undocumented API individuals through projects like the Asian American Racial Justice Project and the Opportunity4All Campaign. She is also spearheading a research project, Experiences of Undocumented AAPI Students: A Study on Higher Education Opportunity Inequity and Strategies to Promote Access .
Jenny is excited to be placed at the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs as a 2025-2026 David Bohnett Fellow, where she hopes to protect and uplift immigrant communities. As she continues to grow professionally, Jenny looks forward to learning from the team driving positive change and shaping the future of Los Angeles.
