Zachary originally hails from Palm City FL, a small town east of Lake Okeechobee. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Miami while on an academic scholarship. While in college he followed his passion for public service and joined the US Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate program. Shortly after graduation, he attended and then commissioned from the Navy’s Officer Candidate School as a Nuclear Engineering Surface Warfare Officer. He served two tours onboard the USS JOHN FINN (DDG 113) and the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) where he participated in multiple deployments and led a diverse range of divisions and Sailors across a broad spectrum of operational areas.
After six years, still following his passion to engage in public service, he chose to pursue a Master of Public Policy and Master of Business Administration to help him transition into serving via the public sector. His long-term goal is to utilize his leadership experience to help strengthen his communities through management of public organizations and institutions.
Zachary is honored to be working with the Mayor’s Office of Intergovernmental Relations as their 2025-2026 Bohnett Fellow. He looks forward to using his experience in navigating complex military bureaucracies to help Los Angeles achieve its municipal initiatives and policy goals. He is consistently inspired by Los Angeles’ diverse history and communities and hopes to continue learning how inclusive governance can drive meaningful societal impact.
In his free time, Zachary is an ardent football fan, American and International and will happily discuss his beloved teams the Miami Hurricanes, Miami Dolphins, or Inter Miami CF.
