USC Price School of Public Policy: Alexandra Perez

Alexandra Perez

Alexandra, the 2023-2024 Bohnett Fellow, is a Master of Public Policy candidate at the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy. Her interests are centered around social justice, economic inequity, and immigration reform policy. Through her time working in the public sector, Alexandra has developed a passion for public service and improving the quality of life for marginalized communities in Los Angeles County.

Before attending USC Price, Alexandra spent a gap year in Spain where she taught English. She received her B.A. in Political Science and History of Public Policy and Law from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During her time at UCSB, Alexandra served as an Associated Students Off-Campus Senator, ACQUIRE Campaign Coordinator, and the Co-chair for the Commission on Marginalized Genders. Her recent work with the City of Torrance as a Management Aide for the Office of Emergency Services allowed her to serve a community of over one hundred forty thousand residents. Her work included creating an emergency preparedness community guide, engaging in community outreach regarding emergency preparedness, and aiding in the planning of several City events.

As a Bohnett Fellow, Alexandra will work within Supervisor Janice Hahn’s team assisting with policies related to criminal justice reform and mental health, in addition to serving as a member of the communications team. She looks forward to learning about policy development at the county level and hopes to continue working in the local policy sphere in the future.
