USC Price School of Public Policy: Emily Ellison

Emily Ellison

Emily, the 2024 Bohnett Fellow, is a Master of Public Policy candidate at the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy. Her interests lie in environmental resiliency and sustainable policy. Before joining Price, Emily spent three years working in immigration law, obtaining work visas and green cards for individuals and families immigrating to the United States. Summer 2023, Emily had the opportunity to work for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in their Natural Resources and Environment Team. There she conducted federal audits and program evaluations for the Nuclear Modernization Program at the NNSA. She also worked for GAO’s Water Community of Practice to expand the agency’s knowledge of natural resource accounting. Prior to her GAO internship, Emily worked with a public affairs firm to support various environmental agencies, including South Coast AQMD and the California Air Resources Board, to expand their missions to promote a clean air environment.

As this year’s recipient of the USC Bohnett Fellow, Emily will work with Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s Environment Deputy to rebuild and protect California’s coastline and shape environmental policies. Emily looks forward to being a part of California’s groundbreaking environmental policy development as the county works towards a more sustainable future.
