Remarks for Rob Saltman’s 70th Birthday

West Hollywood, California

How wonderful it is that everyone in this room shares a unique relationship with Rob, just as Rob has a special connection with each of us.

Let’s try a little experiment;

  • Hold your hand up if you’ve known Rob more than a month
  • Keep you had up if you’re known Rob more than a year……..
  • More than 5 years – 10 years – 20 years – 30 years – 40 years – Rob’s whole life !

That’s remarkable!

It takes an extraordinary person to create those bonds—someone with love, generosity of spirit, curiosity, and character. Rob, you embody all of these qualities.

Today, we gather to celebrate Rob’s 70th birthday, but in many ways, Rob has given us the gift: the gift of being here together. To share collectively our own special memories and connections.   The best gift we can give Rob today is to let him feel the love and gratitude that fills this room.

Rob, you’ve shared so much of yourself with those around you—freely, openly, and with deep care. We also honor those who hold a special place in your heart…we think of Ed, your nephews Adam and Seth, your brother-in-law Joel Herzog and your sister Linda, and your parents. And as we celebrate, we remember friends, family, and loved ones who are no longer with us but whose spirits are undoubtedly part of this day.

Our experience here in celebrating Rob shows us how love can endlessly multiply. That gift is what I know Rob would wish for us to take away from this afternoon; to continue to spread love through our own lives – to ourselves, to those we encounter in our day, and to those we hold close.

Happy Birthday, Rob. We love you dearly.
