The Resource Center of Dallas (dba John Thomas Gay & Lesbian Community Center) received notification from the David Bohnett Foundation and is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a grant for a cyber center. The David Bohnett CyberCenter will be housed in the Phil John Historic Archives & Research Library. The goal of the grant is to make the internet accessible to all people in the GLBT community.

Through the grant, the David Bohnett Foundation will provide the Center with 8 top of the line computers and monitors from IBM. In addition, a laser printer and flatbed scanner will be provided. The gift will increase the Library's current capabilities of one public internet access computer. At this time, the Library see an average of over 340 patrons each month and over 200 individuals utilize the Library for public internet access. This grant will allow the Center to serve many more individuals. In addition, the David Bohnett CyberCenter will conduct classes on computer literacy, job skills training, and possible language classes.

Construction will begin to accommodate the new David Bohnett CyberCenter. A grand opening is scheduled for the middle of summer. There will be no charge to utilize the CyberCenter. However, minimal fees may apply for copying and printing.

The John Thomas Gay & Lesbian Community Center is the 3rd largest GLBT community center in the United States.
